this is pretty darn impressive. The textures, the chrome, the smoke, bricks, shading...did i miss something?

*___* I love everything about this image.

Foremost I love how everything is balanced and done proportion wise and how Mantis seems balanced on the bike- actually this is one of the few that actually looks like the character is on said bike and there's weight on it > >;
The coloring and shading for this is gorgeous, I especially love the coloring on the face and how there are both shades and highlights and how dark the areas are that aren't facing the life source which gives it a more realistic look. I also like how with the chain that you had it shine along with the watch to reflect the light along with the bike.

Adding the surrealism gives the image another dimension to this, adding the smoke birds was brilliant and really eye catching and having the brick be a normal brick wall but then being the sky to frame the birds and partially Mantis was smart. The train tracks leading to somewhere or nowhere or anywhere was great ^^

I think your attempt at chrome is stunning. I like you done the brick wall as the background too.
I wouldn't say you wasted you day, I hardly know any artist to do a decent project within one day.
